Preach equality not charity
Raabta
I have been friends with the students from the Government school for about 9 months now. While there are times when
they need some basic amenities, they don't appreciate being patronized. The best way to present someone with a better life isn't through handouts but an educational opportunity.
No one should be left out from having a good education just because of their socio economic background.
I firmly believe that these students are capable of a lot more if given even half the opportunities as us.

What is Raabta?
In English, the Urdu word 'Raabta' loosely translates to connection. While the students in my county and school have the privilege of learning using a unique approach as me, students from Government schools do not enjoy the same opportunities.
'Connect' me if I'm wrong but these students deserve the same opportunities.
My vision behind Raabta was to level out the playing field, to try and bridge the socio economic gap between the two groups through education. This need for 'connection' sparked the growth of this idea.

A detailed list of experiments that I performed at this school:

Going off on a different tangent here and focusing on some puzzling phenomena to tease the brain Experiments on pinhole camera, the Coriolis effect and paradoxes. 1.Using the circular shadow of a cardboard having a triangle cut out in the center to demonstrate the working of a pinhole camera 2. Explaining how hurricanes are caused by the Coriolis effect 3. Thought experiments like the Shrodinger's cat to explain the logic behind quantum computing 4. Mind boggling paradoxes such as the Dichotomy paradox, Meno's paradox, the Monty Hall problem, the Barber's paradox, the grandfather's paradox and some more. 5. Answering the age old question : An unstoppable force VS an immovable body 7th March, 2020 Thought provoking experiments 1. Heating a balloon till it bursts then filling it with water but it doesn't burst as h2o absorbs heat(explaining how h20 is used as a coolant) 2. To demonstrate that air exerts pressure: cut a hole in the bottle and fill it with water and put the blown balloon on the cap, water flows out the hole 3. The experiment containing a water bottle with holes in it where water doesn't flow with cap but otherwise it does water does 4. Candle extinguished flame experiment : lighting a candle after blowing it out using the unburnt wax 5. Ketchup packet in water : It's the air in the ketchup packet (water doesn't compress but air does). When the air is compressed (by squeezing the bottle), it becomes more dense than the water, causing the pack to sink, when you release, the air molecules spread out again and the pack will float to the top. |
Here is some of the feedback we've received from some of the parents :
These are from the parents who attended my workshop with the university professors.
